Dr. Chrystal is a leading scholar/performer of two of America’s Founding Fathers, John Adams and Alexander Hamilton. He is the author of Hamilton by the Slice: Falling in Love with Our Most Influential Founding Father.
Dr. Chrystal not only dresses up and portrays Nevis native son, Alexander Hamilton, he is a Hamilton scholar as well, researching and writing about little-known aspects of Hamilton’s life. Most especially, Dr. Chrystal understands that Hamilton always valued the lessons he learned during his Caribbean childhood and youth, applying many of them when he became a soldier, America’s undisputed greatest Founding Father, and government leader.
Dr. Chrystal is a native of Seattle, Washington. For ten years, he was host of the National Public Radio program, “The Thomas Jefferson Hour.” During that time, he began researching and portraying U.S. Founding Fathers John Adams and Alexander Hamilton. His present passion involves uncovering new material about Alexander Hamilton, someone he calls “a badly misunderstood founder.” He is the Founding Editor of the Alexander Hamilton Working Papers, an occasional publication devoted to new research and information.
